读书是应该有一点饥饿感的。我上中学的时候，还是一书难求、“饥不择食”的时代，同学之间互相借读“闲书”十分普遍。待到进入大学校园，一座图书馆可以极大满足读书需求，不过一些热门图书仍然有难以及时借阅的急迫感。逛书店成为我的一种习惯，无论出差旅行到哪里，大到文化中心，小到山区县城，书店都是必去之地。书店的规模，新书的数量，店里图书分类的专业水准，淘到旧书的概率，都成了评价一座城市文化品质的重要指标——在当时很难想象，多年后连“实体书店”都变成了需要特别扶持的对象。
