One night the first seaman drinks to excess and, in his drunken stupor, crashes his body into the second seaman, sending him careening into the sea. In an extremely improbable turn of events, another person has been stowed away in the bowels of the ship, in a room with a window onto the sea. Upon seeing the second seaman careen past her window, she jumps out of her window and into the sea in a bid to save him, and suffers injury in the course of the rescue.
